Vex 7 is the latest and one of the most challenging entries in the long-running Vex platformer series. If you've made it through Vex 3 to Vex 6, Vex 7 will still find new ways to challenge you. Here's what you need to know for every act.

What's New in Vex 7

Vex 7 introduces gravity-shift sections that flip the orientation of the level, teleporters that transport your character across the level instantly (with momentum preserved), and new crumbling platform types that collapse faster than earlier games. These new mechanics require fundamentally reconsidering your spatial orientation and your expectations about where your character will be after crossing certain elements.

Act 1 — The Introduction

Act 1 serves as the tutorial for the game's new mechanics. The gravity shifts here are gentle and telegraphed well in advance. Pay attention to how your character's controls feel inverted when gravity flips — what was "up" is now "down" for your jump, and what felt like a safe direction may now drop you into a hazard. Don't rush Act 1; the lessons you learn here apply in every subsequent act.

Act 2 — Introducing Teleporters

Act 2 adds the teleporter mechanic. The key to understanding teleporters in Vex 7 is that your momentum is preserved when you exit. Enter a teleporter moving right and you'll exit moving right at the same speed. Many deaths in Act 2 come from exiting teleporters directly into walls or spikes because players didn't account for their exit trajectory. Before entering a teleporter, look at where the exit is and prepare for what direction you'll be moving when you come out.

Act 3 — Combined Mechanics

Act 3 starts combining gravity shifts with teleporters, creating situations where you exit a teleporter in a section with flipped gravity. The disorientation is intentional and significant. The best approach is to pause at each new section, observe all the elements present, and mentally trace your expected path before moving. Rushing through Act 3 sections without understanding them leads to repeated deaths from the same situations.

Act 4 — Speed and Precision

Act 4 increases the required movement speed and reduces the timing windows on many sections. The new crumbling platforms here collapse in under a second — just long enough to land and jump but not to think about where to jump next. Preplan your crumbling platform sequences before starting them: know where you're jumping to from each platform before you land on any of them.

Acts 5–7 — Expert Territory

Acts 5 through 7 combine all mechanics with increasing density and precision requirements. At this point, practice mode becomes essential — use it to isolate sections you're struggling with and practice them in isolation before attempting full act runs. The wall jump technique, which has been present since Vex 3, is crucial in some late sections that provide no other path forward. If you've neglected wall jumping in earlier games, Acts 5–7 will force you to develop it.

Star Challenges

Each act has star challenges that require collecting stars scattered throughout the level, often in locations that are off the critical path and involve additional risk. Attempt the critical path completion first before worrying about stars — adding the star collection route to an already difficult act makes it significantly harder. Complete each act cleanly first, then go back for stars.
